Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active IL nursing license required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required Must-Have: - Required work setting experience: Med/Surg - Required skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response - Required skills in gastrointestinal case management - Required IV therapy and phlebotomy experience - Required medication experience: Heparin, Insulin, PCA - Required neurological and psychiatric case skills - Required respiratory case skills - Required professional knowledge and skills Description: Position: Medical Surgical Neuro RN The nurse will be responsible for providing care for patients in the medical-surgical neuro unit. Averaging a daily census of 32 patients, the nurse will work 4 shifts of 12 hours each. Nurses will work every other weekend as part of the schedule. No call is required in this position. The nurse will float as needed within the facility to meet patient care needs. Preferred qualifications include teaching hospital experience and trauma level II experience. The nurse must have experience in telemetry monitoring and rapid response teams. Experience with colostomy care and feeding tube management is required. Key competencies include accessing ports, administering blood products, and managing IV therapy. Experience with neurological conditions, including strokes and traumatic brain injuries, is required. Skills in managing chest tubes and providing respiratory care are essential. Continuous bladder irrigation and wound care experience are required. The facility utilizes Cerner for charting, and familiarity with this system is necessary. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics, requiring a compassionate approach to care. The nurse will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care. This position requires dedication to patient education and support through the healing process.
