The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer Lieutenant for an internal promotional opportunity only. Current FDC employees are encouraged to apply. The position is located at Mayo Correctional Institution in Mayo, Florida (Lafayette County). The salary is $59,623.72 (minimum annually). Minimum qualifications include: being at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, having completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida, not having received a suspension within the past 12 months, not having received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months, and not having received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.
Specific duties and responsibilities include supervising correctional officers and sergeants, planning and organizing activities, conducting performance evaluations, managing inmate housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards, and providing emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters, and accidents.
