Security Officer SubstituteReports To: Security Coordinator and Building PrincipalJob Purpose: To provide security services on a substitute basis as needed by the school principals and district administration.Qualifications-Required:High School Diploma or equivalentMust have knowledge of the rules and regulations for school safety in New JerseyAbility to prepare reports using appropriate grammarExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skillsAbility to work with school age studentsAbility to diffuse heated situations with studentsAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to follow ordersAbility to be proactive and not reactiveAbility to maintain self-control during intense situationsAbility to relate effectively with all levels of staffMust possess a valid NJ driver's licenseMust be able to pass the Criminal History ReviewMust be able to submit the Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure FormQualifications-Desired:Police or Law Enforcement experienceCertified by a New Jersey Police Training CommissionOwn a semi-automatic handgun in caliber ranges 9mm to.45 caliberHave a Level III holsterPossession of a RPO-Retired Police Officer's Right to Carry and meet all training requirementsWilling to wear a Level IIIA bullet-proof vest or carrierExperience working in a school settingExperience carrying a firearm around childrenKnowledge of school operationsDuties/Responsibilities:Secures the front desk of the schools' visitor access, student drop off and pick upAssists in the morning and afternoon with student bus drop off, parent drop off locations, and parking lotsPatrols and monitors hallways, stairwells, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places for the school to ensure safety and well-being of students and staffEnsures a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways, assisting students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locationsAssists with the supervision in the lunch periodsRemoves disruptive students from classes when neededLocates and escorts students to the Assistant Principal's office when requestedAssists the professional staff, police, and emergency personnel in the handling of emergencies or disruptive situationsEnsures students are in compliance with school rules and regulationsProvides escorts for visitors to various locations throughout the buildingProvides security duties as requested to after school and weekend eventsWorking Conditions:On an as needed basis $20.85/hr (Unarmed) - $30.75/hr (Armed) Indoor and outdoor work environments Office environment Classroom environment School cafeteriaPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, when necessaryAbility to restrain a student when necessaryAbility to walk up/down stairsAbility to walk hallways during a required timeAbility to work outside in cold weatherAbility to maintain physical/emotional composure during intense situationsDirect Reports: N/AApplication Procedure: Apply OnlineSelection Procedure: InterviewEgg Harbor Township Board of Education is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
