Project Manager – Telecom Expense Management
Location: New York, NY
Work Arrangement: Onsite – No Telework
Duration: 12 months
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with strong financial analysis, data management, and Telecom Expense Management (TEM) experience. The consultant will support the Telecom Expense Management team in analyzing telecommunications expenses, auditing invoices, managing vendor payments, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and optimizing telecom-related expenditures.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced Excel and reporting capabilities, and experience working with large datasets, financial reports, wireless carrier data, and enterprise systems such as ServiceNow and PeopleSoft .
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and optimize processes for managing telecommunications expenses, including mobile, landline, wireless, voice, data, cloud, and related IT services.
- Perform detailed financial and data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and eliminate unnecessary expenditures.
- Analyze monthly carrier reports for data integrity, accuracy, discrepancies, and potential cost inefficiencies.
- Review and audit vendor invoices, wireless carrier charges, usage data, and payment records.
- Analyze telecom spending and identify unused or underutilized mobile devices and services.
- Compare vendor expenses against contract funding and identify variances or discrepancies.
- Analyze large datasets and reports from multiple wireless carriers to ensure accuracy and proper billing.
- Review and reconcile asset records with wireless carrier portals and internal databases.
- Support the review of thousands of mobile device records and identify discrepancies between internal systems and carrier databases.
- Process and analyze zero-usage reports and recommend opportunities for service optimization.
- Generate and analyze ServiceNow reports and dashboards.
- Track planned versus actual expenses as part of annual budget planning.
- Prepare budget forecasts, expense reports, and financial projections.
- Prepare mid-year and year-end forecasts and monitor spending against approved budgets.
- Track project and program expenditures and investigate budget variances.
- Monitor procurement requirements for new purchases, contract modifications, and vendor payments.
- Prepare status reports for ongoing and completed projects, including budget and timeline performance.
- Manage high-volume financial and operational data and communicate key findings to leadership.
- Develop reports, presentations, dashboards, and data visualizations using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
- Gather business requirements and translate business needs into actionable processes and solutions.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Recommend process improvements based on data analysis and financial trends.
- Communicate complex financial and analytical information clearly to management and stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and developments relevant to telecommunications and expense management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis skills.
- Experience with Telecom Expense Management (TEM) .
- Experience auditing telecommunications expenses, including wireless, wired, voice, and data services.
- Strong experience analyzing wireless carrier invoices, usage data, and billing information.
- Experience working with large databases and high-volume datasets.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, data analysis, and complex spreadsheets.
- Experience developing reports, presentations, dashboards, and data visualizations.
- Experience with Power BI .
- Experience with ServiceNow , including reporting and dashboards.
- Experience with PeopleSoft .
- Strong invoice analysis and vendor payment experience.
- Experience with budget tracking, project spend tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to identify trends, interpret complex data, and make recommendations.
- Ability to independently research, compile, and analyze large volumes of financial and operational information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to summarize and explain complex information to leadership.

- Experience identifying opportunities to automate manual processes.
- Knowledge of AI tools and other relevant analytical technologies.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
